Incoming Exchange Students | General Information

For ten reasons why you should chose UCT as your exchange university destination of choice please visit the following link: https://www.uct.ac.za/apply/intlapplicants/chooseuct/why

The Faculty of Law at the University of Cape Town provides strong leadership in the field of legal education both nationally and increasingly in the international arena. Undergraduate students may choose either the combined BA/BCom plus postgraduate LLB or the recently introduced four-year undergraduate LLB.

The faculty's post-LLB programmes are attracting increasing numbers of students from South Africa and beyond. Members of the faculty engage in critical policy research and have, since 1994, played an important role in law reform and policy revision. Faculty members provided key technical support during the drafting of the South African Constitution and staff and students continue to play a prominent role in governance.

Our exchanges and internationalisation programme has grown considerably over the past few years with exchange students from a range of American and European universities chosing UCT as their exchange university destination of choice. UCT students in their intermediate and final level of study have spent a semester or full-year abroad at universities of their choice in terms of the partnership agreement.

We continue to explore partnerships with universities across the globe.

The International Academic Programmes Office provides a range of services for International Students. This ranges from Orientation to providing advice on a range of services to ensure you will settle into life at UCT and in Cape Town easily and with maximum benefit. Please visit https://www.uct.ac.za/apply/intlapplicants/semester/services/orientation for more information for international students. This includes information on study permits.

While the Law Faculty will be hosting an Orientation session for exchange students, we encourage students to participate in the Orientation session offered by the UCT International Office. Please visit the website for more details.
