International Exchange

Collaboration & Exchange

The Faculty of Law promotes diverse forms of internationalisation initiatives.

These differ according to the nature of the initiative, the formality underpinning the initiative, who is driving the initiative and the financial implications for the partnering institutions. A broad distinction is generally drawn between academic collaboration initiatives and student and/or staff exchange initiatives.

Collaboration Initiatives
Academic collaboration encompasses both formal and informal initiatives aimed at promoting broad academic collaboration between two Faculties/Law Schools, research groupings and/or academics at partnering institutions.

Exchange Initiatives
Academic exchange initiatives take place at two levels .

  • The first is through formal Exchange Agreements concluded between the UCT Faculty of Law and other Law Faculties/Law Schools around the world.

  • The second is through the Semester Study Abroad Programme administered by UCT’s International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO).
