My Father Died For This

The Centre for Law and Society, the NRF Chair in Security and Justice and the UCT Law Faculty will be hosting Lukhanyo and Abigail Calata for a launch of their book My Father Died for This.

The book documents the life of struggle heroes Fort Calata (Cradock Four) and Canon James Calata (long-serving ANC Secretary-General) and follows Lukhanyo and Abigail as they actively seek justice for the death of his father, Fort, and possibly open the door for the prosecution of apartheid agents and their political masters connected to the murders of other struggle heroes like Victoria and Griffith Mxenge, Ashley Kriel and Nokuthula Simelane.

Join us as they, in conversation with Adv. Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, consider the sacrifices of struggle heroes and whether we are able to get justice for them so many years after their deaths.
